Elected three times to the Bend-La Pine School Board, Cheri has delivered results. During her service, high school graduation rates have risen 10%, she championed instructional technology to replace outdated textbooks and collaborated with teachers and administrators creating a performance-based compensation system. In addition, voters approved funding for four new schools to relieve overcrowding and school buses are converting to cleaner-burning, environmentally-friendly propane fuels.

In endorsing her 2017 re-election, the Bulletin called Cheri a “standout” and praised her “depth of knowledge” and said she is “tireless” when it comes to good schools, and the Source Weekly called her a “strong advocate for Bend-La Pine schools at the state level.”

As your Representative, with nearly 65% of funding for local schools coming from the state, Cheri will support essential pension reforms to redirect dollars to classroom learning, will support 100% funding for technical and career education and will advocate for OSU Cascades so it can educate more Central Oregon students.
